Clear Sky Black Cloud, a performance piece by Cai Guo Qiang, which I was lucky to witness in Central Park some time ago, was one of the most memorable things I’ve ever seen and/or heard. So, not surprisingly I was very excited to have the opportunity to meet the artist himself. We were able to speak in Japanese as he had lived there for 9 years. Of course there were no floating, gigantic black clouds nor a pack of flying wolves in his house, but the octagon shaped room where the photo shoot took place was very serene and peaceful. There were however, badminton shuttles hanging from his Christmas tree. Photographed for Surface #105 / Legends At Work.
